Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1 teaspoon avocado oil
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce alternatives: tamari or coconut aminos
  • 3 tablespoon mirin
  • 3 tablespoon sake
  • 3 tablespoon honey
  • spring onion and/or sesame seeds to garnish
  • optional: ginger and garlic

Instructions

  • Preheat a pan over medium heat with the avocado oil.
  • Prepare the teriyaki sauce by adding the soy sauce, sake, mirin and honey to a small bowl and mixing it. Add minced garlic or grated ginger if you want to (optional).
  • Rinse the salmon, pat it dry and sear it in the pan from both sides until it is cooked through. Cook time varies depending on the type of salmon you use, so check how long it needs to be seared. Then, take out the salmon and set it aside.
  • Clean the pan with a paper towel and add the teriyaki sauce. Let the teriyaki sauce simmer until it starts to thicken. Make sure you don't use too much heat. Use just enough heat to make it simmer.
  • Add the salmon to the pan and cover it with the teriyaki glaze.
  • Garnish with spring onion and/or sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use coconut aminos for making a gluten-free and soy-free teriyaki sauce. Use tamari for a gluten-free teriyaki sauce.
